“Due to level of uncertainty with Covid 19, it is difficult to plan the mooring maintenance ahead. Irish Sailing have been in touch with all the county engineers and they will revert with plans as soon as they are in a position to do so. Thank you for your understanding.”

Information on the maintenance of the visitors moorings

Information on on servicing has come directly from County Engineers, starting north and heading south . 

Please note that the lat and longs may vary slightly after maintenance works.

Donegal

01 June 2021 An update on mooring maintenance plans has been requested.

08 July 2020 - the area engineer has confirmed that the moorings will be serviced within the next 4 weeks. Unfortunately, Covid19 has delayed things this year but it is great to see they are being serviced to keep the facility going strong and encourage yachts to explore the amazing Donegal coast. 

120m. of pontoons with a gangway are now in Greencastle Harbour accommodating visiting boats

Banagee now has pontoons and a birthing pontoon. Teelin Pier now has a birthing pontoon.

New toilet facilities have been built in Burtonport Harbour which includes a shower facility for use by visiting boats. The key for this is available from the Harbourmaster, Patrick Ward – tel: to follow.

Mayo

09 June 2021 Mayo Co Co are starting to reinstate the visitor moorings. See those active as at 9 June 2021.

8 July 2020 - A decision was made by Mayo County Council not to deploy visitor moorings this summer. Due to Covid - 19  and the original restriction of the islands being closed to visitors till the 10th of August (which was only recently at a late date for the season), visitor moorings were not deployed.

The moorings are NOT gone forever, Mayo County Council still plan to deploy the moorings in 2021.

There are pontoons at Newport, Inishlyre, Westport Harbour, Kildavnet (Achill). Ballycroy/Innishbiggle.

Galway

Galway coasts moorings are serviced every year at around June time. They have plans to extend pier at Inisheer, which will be super. Currently awaiting procurement. It is good to know yet another County Council take our coastal infrastructure seriously.

NB: Temporary pontoons are going in to Inishmore for WIORA event early July 2017 (awaiting confirmation of how long they the pontoons will stay)

NB: @ 27 May 2014. The County Clare coast suffered severe damage in early 2014. The County Council managed to repair Carrrigaholt in 2014 and hope to repair Labasheeda in 2015 or when funds become available as their priority is piers and pathway repair.

01 June 2021 An update on mooring maintenance plans was requested. See updates below.

8 July 20120 - Moorings last serviced in 2017 and Cork County Council are working on the tenders for this year's servicing.

The Port of Bantry Marina is providing excellent shelter and facilties for visiting yachts and locals alike.
