Instructor Discipline Conversion

An Instructor Discipline Conversion allows qualified instructors to extend their instructorship into another discipline or scheme, building on the skills and experience gained from their existing qualification.

In many cases, experienced instructors already hold a strong foundation in teaching, safety and session delivery. The Conversion process recognises this prior learning, focusing instead on the specific technical and instructional elements unique to the new discipline.

• Within the Same Scheme:
  A Conversion within the same scheme is completed over 2 days.
  for example, SBSS Dinghy Instructor to SBSS Keelboat Instructor or SBSS Catamaran Instructor, and vice-versa.

• Between Different Schemes:
  A Conversion between different schemes is completed over 3 days.
  for example, Windsurfing Instructor to SBSS Instructor,
  or SBSS Instructor to NPTS Instructor, etc
  and vice-versa.

A relevant discipline Instructor Pre-Entry Assessment, completed within the last 12 months, is required for all Instructor Conversions.
