Ireland’s national network of clubs and training centres — with support, recognition and a voice in our sport.

Being an affiliated organisation connects you to the national network that supports, represents and develops sailing, powerboating and windsurfing across Ireland.

Benefits of becoming Irish Sailing Affiliated:

COLLECTIVE: An organisation of all members for all member’s benefit.

REPRESENTATION: The interface with World Sailing, Sport Ireland & Olympic Federation of Ireland.

EXPERTISE: Knowledge of areas from Training to Rules to Safeguarding.

TRAINING: Execution of the nationwide Training & Coaching system.

RACING: Training and supporting of Race Officials, Class Racing & Team Racing environment.

OPERATIONS: Providing services to members, sport to most in need and legislative provision of certs, endorsement, licences & safeguarding.

COMMUNICATION: Keeping our community in the know.

FINANCE & RISK: Collecting funds fairly and spending them wisely.

 

What Irish Sailing Does For You

For new affiliations, please see the Affiliation form below.  Please speak to the Irish Sailing Team about your club and it’s application to join Irish Sailing.   Submissions go forward to the Irish Sailing Board for approval.

Affiliation Types

 

Category 1 – Irish Sailing Clubs

Definition:  Constituted clubs in the Republic of Ireland with open membership, engaged in the organisation of sailing and/or leisure boating activities for their members.

Category 2 – National Organisations

Definition:  Clubs, associations or similar bodies committed to working with Irish Sailing on a regional or nationwide basis to promote sailing and/or boating activities for specific strategic interest groups.

Examples:

•             Cruising Organisation

•             Education Third Level

•             National Racing Organisation

•             Sailability Organisation

•             Other National Bodies

Category 3 – Local Organisations

Definition: Community-based organisations such as clubs, associations, schools, companies or committees promoting sailing, windsurfing or leisure boating locally for persons who may or may not be members of a Category 1 Club.

Examples:

•             Education Second Level

•             Local Club

•             Local Racing

•             Northern Ireland Clubs

Category 4 – Class Associations

Definition: Organisations committed to promoting participation and/or competition in a particular class or classes of boat on a nationwide basis.

 

Category 5 – Training Centres

Definition:  Sailing schools, training centres, or businesses providing sailing activities and Irish Sailing accredited training programmes.

Examples:

• Club Training Centre: Operates as part of a Category 1 Club and delivers Irish Sailing accredited training programmes to club members and the wider community.

• Open Training Centre: An independent, usually commercial, training centre not linked to a sailing club or specialist organisation, offering Irish Sailing accredited training to the public.

• Specialist Training Centre: A centre operated by a specific organisation such as the Defence Forces or a third-level college, providing Irish Sailing accredited training within its own structure.
