November 8th Royal St George Yacht Club, Dun Laoghaire 10:00 to 17:00 Barry Hayes – UK McWilliam Sailmakers In this training course participants will learn how to ensure boats and sails comply to class rules and specifications. Barry will guide you on how to understand a set of class rules and make the relevant checks on a boat/sails/equipment to ensure they comply.

Local Safety Leader Course – Sunday 9th November 2025 NYC This course is designed for anyone with an interest in becoming the safety officer at local and club events. It is also suggested that all race officers attend this training to gain a greater understanding of safety best practice. The Course content will be delivered by Philip Scallan (National Safety Lead) and Moselle Foley (Local safety leader), both of whom have a wealth of experience in this area of race management.

Irish Sailing Powerboat Instructor certificate, Valid Emergency Care Certificate, Either a Diving qualification (CFT Club Diver, PADI Open Water Diver, BSAC Ocean Diver) or provide logged evidence of at least 6 varied dives as a dive boat coxswain, Irish Sailing Diveboat Cox, Valid Safeguarding 1 Certificate, Current Irish Sailing Garda Vetting. Current Irish Sailing Membership.

Requirements: • Hold a Valid Irish Sailing Powerboat Instructor Qualification. • Inland Waterways Motorboat Scheme Skippers Certificate • 20-hours of logged powerboat helm experience. • Current valid First-Aid certificate. • Sport Ireland Safeguarding 1 Child Protection Certificate. • Garda Vetting clearance (via Irish Sailing). • Current Irish Sailing Membership - direct membership or via your Home Club

Attending and successfully completing this 1-day workshop will revalidate all your Instructor Certificates within the Small Boat Sailing Scheme up to and including Senior Instructor.

Successful completion of this course revalidates all currently held SBSS Instructor Certificates up to and including Senior.
