Eve McMahon lies in 40th place after finishing 9th in the third and only race yesterday at the 2022 ILCA 6 World Championships. Racing in Texas saw very light winds of 8-15 knots which then dropped, and the AP flag was hoisted at 17.15 with no more racing for the day.
This is only Eve’s second World Championship at senior level coming off the back of an intense summer of youth sailing. The main goal for the event is to learn as much as possible competing on the same race course with established veterans and multiple medal winners like Marit Bouwmeester (NED) and Anne-Marie Rindom (DEN). Her coach at this event, Annalise Murphy, is helping guide her through the intense step-up to senior level. Strong individual race results indicate the potential that Eve clearly has in abundance but the consistency will take longer to materialise as she embarks on her senior career.
Three-time Olympic medallist Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands is leading the event. Racing continues until Sunday.
