European Week of Sport 2022

Free Try Sailing

As the summer months come to a close, we hope you have all had a fantastic season on the water so far and we are now looking ahead to the European Week of Sport (EWOS) which is taking place between 23 and 30 September.

Following on from last year's success (see video below), Irish Sailing are now seeking expression of interests from Clubs to partake in EWOS 2022.

As part of EWOS, Irish Sailing would like to invite clubs to apply for a support bursary of €300 per organisation to aid with running a free Try Sailing session for minority groups or people with additional needs from your local community. The main aim of EWOS is to enable more opportunities for people with disabilities, elderly, women, ethnic minority groups, children staying in Direct Provision Centres, or Traveller community to find a welcome introduction to water sports within their local community.

New for this year, as a lead into EWOS in association with Sporting Pride and our current “Get Out Sailing” programme for people within the LGBTQI+, we would like Clubs who want to run a 4 to 6 sessions introduction to sailing course over the month of September and receive a support bursary €1000 per organisation to get in touch with us to discuss possible programmes.

If these are something that interests your club and you want to participate in, please register your interest now by replying to this email with your Club name, main contact details and what you would like to run to jack@sailing.ie

Wishing you all fair winds for the remainder of the season!
