Irish Sailing Team Agreements

Irish Sailing Team Agreements

Irish Sailing are pleased to announce that the formal Irish Sailing Team agreements with the athletes have been approved and signed. The athlete agreements provide security and structure for the entire team as they work towards qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Irish Sailing Team athlete and Olympian Finn Lynch commented: "As a group we all sat down in March and were able to feed back with the coaches and leadership team in Irish Sailing about how we wanted the team to function. It was a great process and gave everyone clarity of purpose. I think we are seeing the benefits of unity come through in recent results. With everyone on the same page we can achieve great things.”

Securing these agreements is one of the responsibilities of the Irish Sailing Olympic Steering Group (OSG) which works closely with Sport Ireland to ensure that Irish Sailing meets the highest standards of good governance. The OSG is headed by new chair John Menton (recently taken over from Patrick Coveney), with the new addition of David Nucifora, High Performance Director for the IRFU. Nucifora, originally from Australia, brings a wealth of experience working with top athletes, and has been in the Irish rugby Performance Director role since 2014.
