Try Sailing Funding for Clubs

Try Sailing Funding for Clubs

European Week Of Sport Try Sailing Funding Opportunity

As part of the European Week of Sport (EWOS) 23rdto 30th September, Irish Sailing would like to invite clubs to apply for a small grant to aid with running a Try Sailing session for minority groups or people with additional needs from your local community for free.
The nature of each session may differ depending on the level of accessibility within the club including considerations around facility access, equipment, transport and the specific needs of the target group. The tag line for Sport Ireland EWOS is #BeActive and Irish Sailing’s Strategic Plan tagline is #BeActiveontheWater and branding will be made available for on site pictures and videos for a social media campaign for the overall event.

EWOS Try Sailing Session Aims

  1. Enable more opportunities for people with disabilities, elderly, women, ethnic minority groups, children staying in Direct Provision Centres, people from the LGBT community or Traveller community to find a welcome introduction to watersports within their local community.
  2. Increase opportunities for people within the above minority groups to be active on the water and hopefully to join local clubs.
  3. Encourage and support club members to run specific sessions tailoring to individual needs of their target group.
  4. Encourage and support more clubs to engage with people in their community who have additional needs and develop relationships with the key stakeholders.
