Irish Sailing welcomes Jack Hannon

Irish Sailing are delighted to welcome Jack Hannon to the team. Jack takes over from Rory Martin to head up Irish Sailing’s Team Racing initiative.

Jack Hannon started sailing when he was 12. He has been a member of Bray Sailing Club (County Wicklow) since then, a driving force behind the club’s diversity programme, and part of the team who won the Irish Sailing Training Centre of the Year Award in 2018.

Jack’s background is in performance science and data analytics. He recently finished up his MSc with UCD and has worked with the IRFU and Irish Sailing Performance Teams to better understand athlete performance. He is also an Irish Sailing Instructor Trainer.

Team Racing is a fun and inexpensive way for clubs to retain young dinghy sailors after they have left the structured environs of class youth racing or the Irish Sailing Training Schemes. With a focus on rules knowledge, boat handling, tactics and teambuilding, the programme further develops transferable skills and will encourage skilled and competitive racing in a very sociable environment.

Jack will now work with clubs and centres to create bespoke Team Racing training for coaches and sailors of all ages and abilities.
