Teamwork, Comradeship, Learning and Fun
Fantastic weekend of training complimented by the incredible weather made this weekend one to remember. Over 40 attendees each day for race official training with a choice of 5 courses to attend.
Courses were delivered by Dara Totterdell (Results Management), Emmet Dalton (Protest Committee), Philip Scallan and Ian Rossiter (Safety Leader), Liam Maloney (Race Officer) and Oscar Doyle and John McNeilly (Mark Laying) and a massive thanks to all the volunteers and Lough Derg Yacht Club.
Here is a small taste of the thanks received ...
"Just to say, many thanks to you, and to the Trainers and volunteers for putting on that Race Official training weekend, I thought it was excellent, even without the good weather.£
"I think the format was great and worked well, giving the options of 2 of the 4 course available, and so presumably, doing the other two modules a next opportunity. It’s a great way of making race organisation accessible for anyone who wants to get involved. The quality of the material on the two courses I attended, combined with the experience and practical experience and knowledge of Trainers was excellent."
"I think the venue is ideal, a central location, with all the facilities needed and would not be affected by bad weather, if the course was to run earlier in the year. I think that format is a very good training template / benchmark for volunteer training for other national sailing bodies and other national sports organisations to follow. Well done again, take a bow! I hope it becomes an annual event."
"Without your energy, drive and determination to deliver only high quality events, none of this would have ever happened. Thanks so much for doing the organising, for being there to support us on the day, for checking in constantly that things are going to plan and for being part of the craic afterwards, so much appreciated. I really enjoyed this event, due to the openness and enthusiasm of the attendees, the location, the hosting club and especially the camaraderie of the team."
