Wednesday Winter Series

Wednesday Winter Series

Healthy Boat, Healthy Body

Following on from the success of last week’s Zoomposium, we’d like to invite you to our Wednesday Winter Series of lectures starting next week. We’ve put together a programme of five knowledgeable and entertaining speakers who will share their views and experiences on a variety of topics, all of which we hope will get people “active on the water” in 2021.

We kick off the series next week on Wednesday 9 December at 4.00pm – Winterising your Powerboat.

As we speed towards the shortest day of the year, National Powerboat Trainer Denis Dillon will discuss the steps involved in winterising your powerboat - what you should do and not do when winterising your outboards, electronics, hull and trailer.

The talks are free to members and you can register directly on our Eventbrite page HERE http://irishsailing.eventbrite.com

The full series of talks are outlined below – save the dates in your diaries.

  • Winterising your Powerboat with Denis Dillon
  • Healthy Eating on the Water with Fiona Staunton

Healthy Eating on the Water with Fiona Staunton

Wednesday 13 January, 6-7pm

January is a time for planning, resolutions, and getting ready to be active on the water. And part of a day’s sailing is eating. We want to stay as fit and healthy as possible, but how do you do that when you’re on the water all day, or packing a lunchbox for someone else who is ? In this talk, Fiona Staunton, Ballymaloe trained chef and National Yacht Club sailor, will be taking us through what snacks to pack for an active day’s sailing, and how to make raw power bars. She’ll also be discussing how to boost your immune system by maintaining your gut health.
