Phase 1 of the Road to Recovery Commences

Phase 1 of the Road to Recovery Commences

Update Saturday 16th May

Phase 1 of the Road to Recovery and of the Irish Sailing Return to Sailing Commences on 18 May 2020

The Taoiseach today confirmed the commencement of Phase 1 of the Road to Recovery. The Irish Coast Guard have also issued a release emphasising the importance of continuing to observe current Covid -19 guidelines, as well as attending to their personal safety when engaging in any water-based or coastal activity. They also mentioned that many clubs and organisations have provided their members with detailed guidelines to be followed with the commencement of phase 1 of the roadmap.

It is now up to us; the sailing, windsurfing and powerboating community to act responsibly if we are to continue to be able to go afloat for the foreseeable future. There are still some areas that Irish Sailing are seeking clarity from Government on for the latter phases – in particular around social distancing and travel restrictions, and in the meantime please apply the four principles to aid your decision making:

  • Compliance with restrictions
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Self Help
  • Risk Assessment
