Inshore Ireland Moves Offshore and Online

After 15 years publishing as Inshore Ireland, editors Gillian Mills and Gery Flynn decided it is the time to look through a global lens on the oceans of the world, in addition to the coastal and inland waters of Ireland.

Ocean Focus will now be reporting on the ‘blue economy’ and the impacts of climate change and global warming, as well as on fisheries, seafood, aquaculture and freshwater.

Moving from print to online…

As more people and businesses are consuming news and selling products and services online, it is time to move fulltime to a digital platform. This will enable the team to better connect with visitors from Adelaide to Annascaul to www.oceanfocus.ie.

Gillian shared "We are acutely aware of the extremely challenging times coronavirus is having on everyone on this island and across the globe, where confinement to a restricted area has become the norm. As a small gesture to our readers and clients, we’re offering a free digital copy of our first issue: Ocean Focus, Spring 2020 which you’ll be able to read on your mobile, laptop or desktop device."

An evolving ‘perfect storm’ for inshore fisheries, Ireland’s national marine plan, and a special feature on Antarctica are among the articles in this first edition.

Starting with ‘Ocean Focus (Summer 2020)’, a paywall will be in place where subscribers can choose to receive a single quarterly edition or four consecutive editions (non-calendar).

Between editions the team will continue to report news across all the categories on www.oceanfocus.ie, and this will all be free to download.

"We hope you enjoy this first edition and we look forward to your feedback to mills@oceanfocus.ie | flynn@oceanfocus.ie." Gery and Gillian.
