Irish Sailing Training Notice 20.3

Instructor Revalidation requirements for Irish Sailing Instructors (SBSS, NPTS, GWS) 

In view of the restrictions imposed by the efforts to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus the following adjustments have been made to the revalidation requirements for those whose certification requires revalidation at this time.

This also applies, in limited circumstances, to instructors whose certification has previously lapsed and wish to revalidate at this time.

Instructors with certification expiring since 01/09/19

Instructors can request and extension to their existing qualification by emailing training@sailing.ie

  • Instructor qualification issued will be valid until 31/03/21
  • Instructor qualification will be recorded on the Irish Sailing databased and listed under the Valid Instructors page in the Irish Sailing website. Physical certificates will not be issued until normal CPD / Revalidation process has been completed
  • All other pre-requisites including Garda Vetting (still being processed) and Safeguarding (online if necessary) must be in place
  • Normal revalidation or up-skilling requirements to be completed when possible for full revalidation

Instructors with certification expiring 01/09/17 to 01/09/19

Instructors can apply for a renewal of their previous qualification by emailing training@sailing.ie including a log of their recent training delivery experience. This experience may have been gained in Ireland or abroad.

  • Instructor qualification issued will be valid until 31/03/21
  • Instructor qualification will be recorded on the Irish Sailing databased and listed under the Valid Instructors page in the Irish Sailing website. Physical certificates will not be issued until normal CPD / Revalidation process has been completed
  • All other pre-requisites including Garda Vetting (still being processed) and Safeguarding (online if necessary) must be in place
  • Normal revalidation or up-skilling requirements to be completed when possible for full revalidation
