€131,242 of Sports Capital Funds go to Irish Sailing Clubs

The Sports Capital Programme is the primary vehicle for Government support for the development of sports and physical recreation facilities throughout our country and helps clubs reach goals they wouldn’t otherwise be able to achieve.

Four clubs benefited from the Sports Capital Funding allocation.

  • €28,158 to Killaloe Sailing Club towards the development of new club house facilities and a RIB for safety cover.
  • €9,062 to Inniscarra Sailing and Kayaking Club in Co Cork for sports equipment and towards improving their facilities.
  • €38,051 to Royal Cork Yacht Club towards providing new universal access to marina for sailors of all abilities.
  • €55,971 went to Sutton Dingy Club in support of upgrading their clubhouse facilities and works on their slipway.

Each of these programmes go towards improving facilities and making sailing more accessible to a wider audience. A total of €131,242 towards developing the sailing infrastructure of Ireland.

Clubs throughout the country made their applications in November 2018 and committed their own financial contribution to the overall project, as well as illustrated the impact the investment will have on local participation. These applications go through a rigorous assessment and scoring system.
