Rockabill VI hailed as ICRA Boat of the Year

ICRA Boat of the Year to Rockabill VI

Paul O’Higgins’ well campaigned JPK1080 pipped Nigel Biggs’ half tonner Checkmate XVIII to claim the ICRA Boat of the Year title by a single point.

The 2019 ICRA Boat of the Year scored the performance of over 100 boats throughout a tremendous season for Irish yacht racing. Rockabill’s first places in the high scoring ICRA Nationals and Dun Laoghaire Dingle race contributed to his highest score, all clinched by participating and finishing third in Howth Yacht Club’s Autumn League.

Tope scoring boats in each of the classes were:

  • Class 0 – Rockabill VI
  • Class 1 – Joker II
  • Class 2 – Checkmate XVIII
  • Class 3 – F’n Gr8
  • White sails – Demelza

The coveted Lighthouse trophy will be presented to Paul O’Higgins and crew at the annual ICRA Conference – date and venue to be confirmed.
