The World Sailing World Cup finished last weekend in Enoshima, Japan. In the 49er class, Ryan Seaton and Seafra Guilfoyle finished in 6th place in the medal race, and in 10th place overall. Enoshima is the site of next year’s Olympic regatta - conditions were hot, humid, and windy with big waves.
The medal race was shown live, and you can watch here: (skip to 2:49:00) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOPsr6uWWto
Irish Sailing Performance Director James O’Callaghan commented “with the World Cup in Enoshima now finished, it brings to a close a really productive summer of sailing in Japan with some notable performances from the team”. The athletes will now return to Ireland for some well deserved rest.
The Irish Sailing Team were also racing in the Laser, the Laser Radial and 49erFX classes, and you can see all the results here: https://www.sailing.org/worldcup/results/index.php
