La Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro comes to Kinsale
Our two Irish sailors Tom Dolan and Joan Mulloy were amongst the competitors who arrive in Kinsale as part of the 50th Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro race (known as the unofficial solo offshore world championship).
They raced from Nantes to Kinsale, and then left Kinsale after a night’s rest on Leg 2 back to Roscoff. The leg was won by Yoann Richomme (photographed above with Irish Sailing President Jack Roy).

The fleet left Kinsale for Roscoff on Sunday 9th and due to the forecast of strong winds for the Irish Sea, the newness of the Figaro Beneteau 3s, and especially the seas expected in the Saint Georges Channel between Wales and Ireland, the decision has been taken by Race Direction to introduce an alternative, safer option.
