NATIONAL CRUISING TRAINING SCHEME REVIEW UNDERWAY

Irish Sailing is currently reviewing the National Cruising Training Scheme, following a consultation that invited feedback from across the cruising community and closed on 31 October 2026.

Submissions received from sailors, clubs, training centres, instructors and other stakeholders are now being reviewed as part of a wider assessment of the scheme and how it can continue to support the development of competent, confident skippers and crew across both sail and motor cruising in Ireland.

The review is a considered process, with Irish Sailing taking time to assess the feedback received, examine the current scheme and identify where improvements or refinements may be needed. The aim is to ensure the scheme remains relevant to modern boating practices, reflects recognised good practice and continues to meet the needs of the cruising community. This work is ongoing, and the feedback will help inform the next steps.
