IRELAND CLAIM RS AERO NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPS

Sophie Crosbie Claims RS Aero North American Championship Title

Ireland’s Sophie Crosbie of Royal Cork Yacht Club has claimed the RS Aero 5 title at the North American Championships, following an impressive performance across three days of racing at Cedar Point Yacht Club in Westport, Connecticut.

The championship brought together sailors from the United States, Canada and Ireland, alongside US-based competitors representing Italy, Poland and Colombia, for three days of closely contested racing in a wide range of conditions.

Crosbie made a commanding start to the championship, securing four consecutive race wins to establish an early lead in the RS Aero 5 fleet.

Conditions throughout the regatta tested competitors, with winds ranging from a gusty 20-knot northerly to lighter, choppy southerlies. The final day brought the strongest conditions of the championship, with easterly winds exceeding 25 knots and large waves putting boat handling and downwind control to the test.

Crosbie maintained her lead heading into the final day and added another two race wins to her tally, securing the overall RS Aero 5 title with six race victories across the championship.

Irish Sailing congratulates Sophie on an outstanding performance and the Irish RS Aero Class on another strong showing on the international stage.
