KEELBOAT CHAMPIONS READY FOR CHAMPIONS’ CUP WEEKEND

The Royal Irish Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire will host the Keelboat Champions’ Cup this weekend, from 10-11 October which will bring together 12 sailors representing their respective classes to compete for the title of Irish Sailing Keelboat Champion of Champions.

The event is the second and final stage of the 2026 Irish Sailing Champions’ Cup, following the Dinghy Champions’ Cup last weekend, from 3-4 October. The split format gives dinghy and keelboat sailors their own weekend of competition, with all competitors racing in identical J80 keelboats supplied by the Irish National Sailing School.

The line-up represents a range of classes, including the 1720, J24, SB20, Flying Fifteen, Squib and International Dragon fleets, alongside representatives from ICRA and the Irish Team Racing Association. Cillian Dickson of Lough Ree Yacht Club returns following his victory in the 2025 event. Racing will take place over the weekend at RIYC, with the winner crowned Irish Sailing Champion of Champions.
