The Dinghy Champions Cup will bring a line-up of Ireland’s leading dinghy sailors together at the Royal St George Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire Harbour on 3-4th October to battle it out for the national title. Twelve helms have been invited, representing a wide range of dinghy classes including GP14/Mirror, Fireball, RS400, Shannon One Design, IDRA 14, Water Wags, Mermaid, ILCA 7, ILCA 6, Melges 15 and RS200/RS Aero.
The invited helms are: Ger Owens, Rachel Deasy, Chris Helme, Ian Croxon, Alan Carr, John O’Driscoll, Anna Lowes, Tom Coulter, Annalise Murphy, Sean Donnelly, Tim Norwood and Thomas Chaix, with their crews joining them for the weekend.
Rather than racing in their usual boats, competitors will take to the water in Melges 15s, putting sailors from different classes on an equal footing and testing their adaptability, boat handling and racing skills. The fleet represents clubs from across Ireland, with racing taking place over the weekend at the Royal St George Yacht Club.
