The World Match Racing Tour returns to Ireland this week for the Dublin Match Cup, with 14 teams set to compete at the National Yacht Club in Dún Laoghaire from 24-27th September.
Now in its second year, the event brings an international field together on Dublin Bay, with teams from Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Great Britain, Denmark, Finland and Sweden. The event is supported by the World Match Racing Tour, the Irish Match Racing Association, the National Yacht Club, the Irish National Sailing School, Sport Ireland and Irish Sailing.
Ireland will be represented by three teams from across the country. The Craic'n Racing team will be made up of Louise Taylor, Matthew Cotter, Ryan Fitzgerald and skippered by Ruairi Finnegan. The Higgins Racing team will be crewed by Henry Higgins, Jamie McMahon, Jack Higgins and skippered by Tom Higgins. The Moxie Racing team will be Sam Ledoux, Matt Mapplebeck, Ciara McMahon, Jacob Collins and skippered by Daniel Coppithorne.
The Dublin Match Cup forms part of the World Match Racing Tour, with competitors earning points towards the overall tour leaderboard. Racing begins with round-robin stages on Thursday 24th and 25th, before the quarter-finals on the afternoon of Saturday 26th. The semi-finals and finals will both take place on Sunday in Dun Laoghaire harbour.
The Dublin Match Cup will bring some of the world’s leading match racing sailors to Dún Laoghaire for four days of tactical, head-to-head racing.
