Killaloe Sailing Club is preparing for a busy championship weekend as the 2026 RS Irish National Championships come to Lough Derg from 21-23 August. A total of 63 boats from 28 clubs are expected to compete across the RS400, RS200 and RS Feva classes, bringing more than 120 sailors to Co. Clare for three days of racing. Nine races are scheduled across the weekend on the open waters of southern Lough Derg.
Killaloe Sailing Club has built a strong reputation for hosting major dinghy events in recent years, with the club previously welcoming RS, Fireball, 420, GP14 and ILCA fleets. The weekend will be just as busy ashore, with around 40 people camping or staying in campervans at the club and up to 170 competitors and supporters expected for the championship barbecue on Saturday evening. The event will also feature some modern race management technology, with robotic race marks which are solar powered to be used during this championship event.
Best of luck to all of the competitors and to Killaloe Sailing Club ahead of this great event.
