Ireland secured an impressive fifth-place finish at the 2026 Team Racing World Championship in Stockholm, with the team producing 14 wins from 21 races against a highly competitive international fleet.
The Irish squad of Tom Higgins, Jaime McMahon, Henry Higgins, Fiona Ferguson, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, Fionn Lyden, Clíodhna Ní Shúilleabháin and Sally O'Flynn built strongly throughout the championship, finishing the second round robin having beaten every team except Great Britain.
Their form continued into the final stages, with Ireland losing just one race across the final three days of competition. They finished the championship on a high, overcoming Bermuda with a 1–2 result to secure fifth place overall.
Nevertheless, fifth in the world represents a fantastic result for Team Ireland, with 14 victories highlighting the strength and consistency of the team's performance throughout the championship.
The team can look back on a hugely competitive week in Stockholm and take plenty of confidence from their results as they look towards seeking qualification from domestic trials prior to the next Team Racing World Championship, with Australia rumoured to host in 2027.
