Irish sailors produced a strong showing at the 2026 Topper World Championships in Quiberon, France, with several sailors finishing inside the Gold Fleet top 20 across a competitive international fleet.
The standout Irish result came from 13 year old Leo West Hurst of Ballyholme Yacht Club and Royal Ulster Yacht Club, who secured bronze in the Topper 5.3 fleet. He finished third overall from 67 sailors in the Gold Fleet, with a series that included a race win and several top ten finishes.
Amy Whyte of Royal Cork Yacht Club and WHSC was the leading girl, finishing an impressive seventh overall in the Gold Fleet. The 14 year old recorded a race win and two further top five finishes during the championship, underlining her consistency at the top end of the fleet.
There were further strong Irish performances from Adam Green of Lough Erne Yacht Club, who finished eighth overall, and Mollie Hooper Jones of Malahide Yacht Club, who placed ninth. Ben McCaldin of Lough Erne Yacht Club also finished 14th, while Emma West Hurst of Ballyholme Yacht Club and Royal Ulster Yacht Club placed 20th.
The results highlight the strength and depth of the Irish Topper fleet, with sailors from clubs across the country competing successfully against an international field in Quiberon.
