The 2026 GP14 World Championship has concluded at the Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club on Belfast Lough, with Ireland taking the world title after a week of challenging racing. The championship, which ran from 8–14 August, brought a 90-boat international fleet to Belfast Lough, with competitors facing everything from heavy rain, strong shifts and mist to light and highly unpredictable breezes.
Irish boat helmed by Ger Owens and crewed by Mel Morris have taken the 2026 World Champion title, after a dominant week of racing on Belfast Lough. They finished at the top of the standings after seven races, with a remarkably consistent series that included three race wins and a 24-point winning margin. The result caps a hugely successful week for Irish sailors, with four Irish crews finishing inside the overall top ten, including strong performances from sailors representing clubs across the country.
