LEARNING SAILING AS AN ADULT

Every year, thousands of adults take their first steps into sailing, powerboating and windsurfing. Sailing isn't a sport that needs to be learned during childhood. Clubs and Training Centres across the country offer adult programmes through the national Small Boat Sailing Scheme, providing a clear and structured pathway to progressively develop skills on the water.

One of the great things about this sport is the variety of ways to take part in sailing- from competetive racing to casual racing, cruising to sailing lessons. Many adult programmes are delivered in keelboats, allowing you to get started in the sport without the need for any wet-gear. Dinghy sailing comes with the additional need of wet-gear as the risk of ending up in the water is much higher. There are lots of choices within sailing, and now is the time to explore them. And importantly, you don't need your own boat to get started.

Check out our Club and Training Centre Finder and find an adult sailing programme near you.
