Whether you're looking to get out on the water for the first time, help out at your local club or build confidence at the helm of a boat, the Introduction to Powerboating programme is a great place to start. Typically delivered over one day, the course is aimed at anyone with little or no previous experience. The focus is learning the fundamentals of safe powerboat handling, launching and recovering and the basic rules of the water.
Courses are usually delivered in small open powerboats, such as RIBs, and can be tailored to suit different age groups, typically from 12 years and over, depending on the type of boat and engine size. For many, the Introduction to Powerboating course is the first step towards gaining the experience needed to achieve the National Powerboat Certificate, often regarded as the benchmark qualification for operating small powerboats in Ireland.
