The Grant Thornton ILCA Irish National Championships on Dublin Bay ended on Sunday after the final day of racing was cancelled due to strong westerly winds. This meant After six races and one discard Saturday’s standings became the results for the entire event.
Overall, the event had conditions ranging from moderate to shifty to exceeding 25 knots over the course of the opening two days.
So, with a nine-point lead from Saturday Olympic silver medallist Annalise Murphy (National Yacht Club) secured the ILCA 6 title making a major comeback ahead of the ILCA World Championships taking place in Dublin Bay this Autumn.
Fiachra McDonnell (Royal Irish Yacht Club) took the ILCA 7 title with a series that included four successive race wins as he also prepares for the ILCA World Championships.
Finally, the ILCA 4 fleet had a close competition with Kate Spain (Royal St. George Yacht Club) holding on to her championship win by just two points.
