The 2026 Round Ireland Yacht Race has delivered a fast and tactical offshore contest around the 704 nautical mile course, with conditions ranging from steady reaching legs to complex tidal transitions and light air sections. While the leading boat has now completed the course, the race for overall honours remains open as the remainder of the fleet continues to be ranked on corrected time.
Line honours were taken by Khumbu, the Botin 56 skippered by Guy Gillon, which completed the circumnavigation and arrived into Wicklow to secure first yacht home across the finish line. The performance underlined the pace of the front of the fleet and marked a strong showing in offshore conditions around the Irish coast.
Behind the line honours winner, the battle for overall IRC positions has remained highly competitive. Early indications showed the J/109 Outrajeous, sailed by Johnny and Suzie Murphy out of Howth Yacht Club, among the boats moving into strong contention, while the French entry Courrier Pogo, skippered by Gery Trentesaux with Irish crew including Tom Dolan, produced a standout passage through the northern tidal gates to move into a leading corrected time position during the race.
With the fleet still completing their passages and results being finalised under IRC and MOCRA ratings, the overall winners will not be confirmed until the official calculations are complete.
The prizegiving ceremony has been rescheduled and will now take place on 26 June 2026 at Wicklow Sailing Club, where the full results, class winners and overall champions of the 2026 edition will be announced.
As the fleet continues to finish, the race remains a showcase of offshore endurance, tactical decision making and high level sailing around one of Europe’s most iconic coastal courses.
