Irish Sailing extends congratulations to Dún Laoghaire sailor Mark Lyttle on winning the ILCA 7 Grand Masters World Championship in Athens, adding a second world title to an already distinguished sailing career.
Representing the National Yacht Club, Lyttle secured victory in the highly competitive Grand Masters division after a week of consistent performances against a strong international fleet. His ability to deliver solid results across the series proved decisive, allowing him to stay ahead of his closest rivals and claim the world title.
Lyttle, who previously won the ILCA 7 Grand Masters World Championship on home waters in Dún Laoghaire in 2018, once again demonstrated the experience, composure and consistency that have made him one of Ireland’s most respected sailors.
The Grand Masters podium saw Lyttle take first place overall, with Robert Hallawell of the USA finishing second and Australia’s Bruce Savage completing the top three.
A former Olympian who represented Ireland at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games, Lyttle continues to compete at the highest level of Masters sailing and remains a fantastic ambassador for Irish sailing on the international stage.
Winning a world championship is a remarkable achievement at any stage of a sailing career, and this latest success is a testament to Mark’s dedication, skill and enduring passion for the sport.
Everyone at Irish Sailing congratulates Mark on this outstanding achievement and wishes him continued success both on and off the water.
