GEORGE INVITATIONAL TEAM RACING

George Invitational Team Racing Championship 2026

The Royal St. George Yacht Club is pleased to announce the return of the George Invitational Team Racing Championship, taking place this weekend in Dún Laoghaire.

Now in its third year since being revived, the George Invitational has quickly re-established itself as a key event on the team racing calendar, attracting leading sailors from Ireland and abroad.

This year’s championship will be managed by Race Officer David Bolger, and is expected to receive World Sailing Grade 1 Team Racing status, reflecting its growing standing within the sport.

Racing will take place over two days in a Swiss League format aboard Firefly dinghies, before progressing to knockout rounds to decide the 2026 champions. With a strong international entry once again expected, Irish teams will be hoping to claim the title for the first time.

Off the water, competitors, officials and guests will come together for the championship barbecue at the Royal St. George Yacht Club on Saturday evening.

More than a regatta, the George Invitational reflects the Royal St. George Yacht Club’s long association with team racing. As the birthplace of the discipline in Ireland nearly 80 years ago, the club continues to play an important role in the sport while welcoming a new generation of sailors to compete in Dún Laoghaire.
