Kinsale Yacht Club is proud to share an important milestone in their ongoing commitment to making sailing accessible to all. Thanks to the support of Irish Sailing’s Club Disability Capital Grant, they have installed a new height‑adjustable changing table in their designated accessible toilet, an upgrade that is already making a meaningful difference.
The new equipment was fitted recently and used for the start of the season. The sailor who availed of it expressed genuine delight that such a high‑quality, dignified facility was available to meet their needs. Their reaction reaffirmed why this project matters so deeply to their club community.
At Kinsale Yacht Club, inclusion is not an aspiration, it is a core value. Through Sailability Kinsale, they provide safe, supported sailing experiences for people of all abilities. Their adapted boats, trained volunteers, and inclusive events help build confidence, independence, and community on and off the water. They work closely with local disability organisations to ensure that sailing in Kinsale is truly open to everyone.
This upgrade strengthens their ability to welcome more sailors, host inclusive training and events, and remove onshore barriers that may prevent participation. It is another step toward ensuring that every person, regardless of ability, can enjoy the freedom and joy of being on the water.
