Irish Sailing was delighted to support the recent Women on the Water event hosted by Royal Cork Yacht Club, which saw a fully subscribed event take place in Crosshaven on 10 May 2026.
Bringing together women of all backgrounds and experience levels, the day was an opportunity to spend time on the water, build confidence and connect through sailing. The event included keelboat sailing, harbour tours by RIB and social activities ashore, giving participants the chance to experience different aspects of club and harbour life in a relaxed and supportive setting.
This event was driven by the incredible volunteers who made the event possible: club members, skippers, organisers and safety crews all contributed their time and experience to this event. Women on the Water is an important part of broadening participation in sailing and creating positive entry points into the sport. Irish Sailing looks forward to continuing to support clubs and centres developing initiatives that help more people get involved and feel welcome on the water.
