Irish Sailing is pleased to welcome Tim Lowney to the team as our new Education and Programmes Officer. Tim joins with a strong background in outdoor education, most recently serving as Senior Sailing Instructor at Fastnet Marine Outdoor Education Centre.
He brings a broad and multi-disciplinary skillset to the role, with experience across sailing, powerboating and windsurfing, as well as a keen interest in wing foiling, kayaking and mountaineering. A former recipient of the Irish Sailing National Senior Instructor Award, Tim has built extensive experience mentoring instructors and developing regional training programmes.
Holding a First Class Honours degree in Adventure Facilitation and Education, Tim is passionate about creative coaching and community engagement. His work spans areas such as adventure therapy, alongside significant personal sailing experience, including time spent crossing the Atlantic.
Tim’s appointment further strengthens Irish Sailing’s commitment to delivering high-quality training and development opportunities, ensuring that participation in watersports remains accessible, engaging and enjoyable for all.
