Finally, the Olympic level ILCA 6 class...
The ILCA 6 was also designed by Ian Bruce and Bruce Kirby in 1969 as part of the now global ILCA family. Alongside the ILCA 4 and 7, which all use the same hull but have different size sails to counteract the weight of different sized sailors.
The ILCA 6 is widely sailed internationally by youth sailors, as well as at the highest level in sport, as an Olympic class. This class forms a vital part of youth sailing worldwide and that is no exception here on Irish waters! The ILCA Worlds will be coming to Dun Laoghaire this September, where we will truly see the global impact of the ILCA 6 class right here on our home shores.
This season, Irish ILCA sailors have been refining their tactical skills with training throughout the quiet winter season, and we cannot wait to see what canons they will fire at the Youth Nationals in under 2 weeks time.
