CONNACHT-ULSTER SCHOOLS TEAM RACING RETURNS

The Connacht–Ulster Schools Team Racing Competition took place at Galway City Sailing Club on 14 March, marking a welcome return for the regional event.

Sailors were met with cold and blustery conditions, but Race Officer Margot Cronin successfully delivered a full round robin series for the five competing teams. After closely contested racing throughout the day, the standings resulted in a three-way tie, highlighting the high level of competition on display.

Racing was expertly umpired by Eunice Kennedy, ensuring fair and consistent decision-making across all races.

Coláiste Éinde emerged as overall winners following the tie-break, with Colasanctius College finishing as runners-up.

Congratulations go to all five school teams who took to the water in challenging conditions. The successful revival of this competition is a positive step for schools sailing in the region and is expected to help build further participation and development in the years ahead.
