The recently launched Coach Development Programme got off to a busy start, offering workshops, shadowing opportunities, and peer support for experienced coaches. The initiative aims to foster a connected and ambitious coaching community to provide top-level support for sailors developing their racing skills.
The programme began with a workshop at the Royal Irish Yacht Club on Friday evening, followed by hands-on coaching during IS Topper Squad and Topper Ireland Open Class training at Malahide Yacht Club. Over 25 sailors took to the water, many preparing for the upcoming IS Youth Nationals.
Led by Coaching Development Officer Liam Glynn, this programme marks the first step in a progressive coach development pathway. A key focus is collaborating with clubs and class associations to expand coaching opportunities, and the engagement with Topper Ireland highlights the positive momentum in developing class-based coaching initiatives.
