CARA NA MARA PROGRAMME

Cara na Mara is Irish Sailing's junior discovery sailing programme designed for young sailors age 6- 9 years.

This is a story-driven programme for kids, where sailors get the opportunity to explore, imagine and discover the water, sailing and sea creatures in a safe and supportive environment. Through games, storytelling and time afloat, children can build confidence on and around the water while learning to work together, ask questions and enjoy being part of a sailing community.

At its heart, Cara na Mara is about creating positive first experiences. There is no pressure to perform, and no expectation of prior sailing knowledge. What matters most is that young sailors feel welcome, supported and excited to return to the water.

Cara na Mara is built on a simple idea: children learn best when they are having fun. Instructors guide learning through games, imagination and exploration, creating playful activities that allow children to gain confidence while spending time around the water and going out on boats.
