Irish Sailing is excited to announce the opening of applications for the Summer 2025 edition of the Junior ILCA4 and Topper Squads. These programs are designed for curious, competitive young sailors who are keen to develop their racing skills and aspire towards international success. Each program is led by Irish Sailing Junior Coach Liam Glynn, whose experience as both an elite-level sailor and coach will help support sailors towards their own ambitions. The squads will also receive strength and conditioning support both at camps and through weekly fitness sessions from Irish Sailing HQ.
The ILCA4 program includes 2 domestic weekend camps and 3 international events (option of dropping to 2 if in Junior Cert year). The Topper program includes 3 domestic weekend camps and 2 overseas events. More details including dates and pricing can be found in the squad description documents below.
Selection will consider technical skills, physical readiness, and key mental qualities such as resilience, competitiveness, and willingness to learn. This will primarily be assessed through performance and coach observations at the Irish Sailing Youth Nationals. Completed class events for 2025 and other high-profile events from previous years can also be used to inform selection. The estimated squad size will be 6 in the ILCA4 and 8 in the Topper. Further selection details can be found in the selection policy documents below.
