RTE YOUNG SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR


Eve McMahon has once again been nominated for RTE's prestigious Young Sportsperson of the Year Award!

The six-strong shortlist for this year's RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year was confirmed and in the running for the honour were a cyclist, a javelin thrower, a sailor, a swimmer and two boxers;

  • Róisín Ní Ríain
  • Adam Olaniyan

Eve was nomiated for her Gold Medal at the U21 World Championship's in Portugal earlier this year, retaining her title from 2023 and before she competed as one of Ireland's youngest ever sailors at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!

Last year Republic of Ireland and Brighton striker Evan Ferguson took the prize. This year it was won by paralympic swimmer Róisín Ní Ríain, double medalist from the Paris 2024 Paralympics. 

Jacqui Hurley, Darragh Maloney and Joanne Cantwell presented the awards live in RTÉ on Sunday, 15 December

Awards also handed out on the night included, RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year, RTÉ Sport Team of the Year and RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year.
