Club Symposium

Clubs sharing ideas to promote sailing, with sessions on Sustainability, Inclusion and Diversity, Grant Applications, Bursaries, and new programmes from Irish Sailing. 
Open to all club management and volunteers.

Conference is FREE.



Irish Sailing are currently following HSE advice regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and public gatherings. Current recommendations are that sailing events and conferences remain appropriate to go ahead.

In order to help us with the planning of the Irish Sailing Conference, AGM and Awards, please book your place in your chosen conference room.  If you would prefer to delay your commitment to lunch until the week before, we perfectly understand and we will follow up on lunches at a later date

1000-1100 The Future of Sailing with Irish Sailing Chief Executive Harry Hermon
1100 - 1135 BIM FLAG Fund will have Paul Downes the Programme Coordinator speaking about the successful applications and what makes a great application encouraging people to utilise the next two years of funding 
1140-1225 Inclusion & Diversity – real examples of how being more inclusive and diverse in your approach to new membership can benefit your club. Donal Hickey from KYC - James Lyons and Tessa Kingston from Sailing into Wellness - Laura Dillon from HYC 
1230-1300 Sustainability – Update on World Sailing and best club example – introduced by Gail / Damian Foxall and/or Lucy Hunt from World Sailing (TBC) / NYC reps who won the Gold Sustainability Event Award 2019. The aim of the session is to show the benefits to your club of becoming more sustainable
1300-1400 Lunch
1400-1445 NGB Bursaries & Programmes - Team Racing (Rory) -Women at the Helm (Gail) - U25s Keelboat (Brian) Bursaries with accompanying programmes that are available to clubs and classes will be explained by their representatives.
1445-1515 LSP Funding, Programmes and supports that are available to Clubs from their local sports partnership will be facilitated by the the Coordinator of Clare LSP and Cruiser Sailor John Sweeney 
1515-1545 Sports Capital Funding Officer Cathy Fagan or Anthony Murphy TBC will take you through what makes a good application and how to make an appeal if unsuccessful in your first application.
1545-1600 Question and Answers Session to any of the Presenters and Closing Address facilitated by Nikki
1600-1630 Overflow time to carry on QnA session or Network / Tea & Coffee before AGM
1630-1730 AGM
1730-2000 Reception and Awards (Carlisle Suite, Ground Floor)
