Irish Sailing are honoured to welcome Damian Foxall as Sustainability Ambassador for Irish Sailing.
Damian has committed to helping us support sailors, clubs and centres to make sailing in Ireland environmentally sustainable and help reduce our carbon footprint.
We are excited to announce that he has committed to attending a number of Irish Sailing events to help share advice on sustainability and environmental impact.
Damian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table for us all to learn from. He completed 10 round-the-world races and is a passionate ocean conservationist. He was the Sustainability Manager for Vestas 11th Hour Racing in the 2018 Volvo Ocean Race and worked diligently to reduce the environmental impact and offset the carbon footprint of the event.
He is guest speaker at the Irish Sailing Cruising Conference in Lough Ree Yacht Club on Saturday 16th February, sharing a personal insight into sustainability and the changes Volvo Ocean Race made to reduce their impact on the environment as they raced around the world.
Damian will also be presenting Irish Sailing’s first Sustainability Award at the Volvo Irish Sailing Awards on Friday 8th February at the RDS.
When not at sea competing as a competitor or helping Irish Sailing spread the good word, Damian now runs Damian Foxall Ocean Consulting and provides specialist performance and sustainability services for the marine industry.
If you would like to join us at the Irish Sailing Cruising Conference and hear Damian’s talk as well as presentations from the Coastguard on helicopter lifts, Niall Hatch of Bird Watch Ireland and much more please book as soon as you can, there are only a few spaces left.
