The Role of a Centre Principal

Every Irish Sailing Training Centre must appoint a Centre Principal — the person with overall responsibility for implementing Irish Sailing accredited training and coaching activities within their organisation.

The Centre Principal ensures that all courses and certifications delivered under the Irish Sailing framework meet the required standards of safety, quality and professionalism.

In the club environment, this is typically the Club Training Officer.
In a commercial centre, this is typically the Centre Manager.

Responsibilities

The Centre Principal is responsible to Irish Sailing for the proper conduct of all accredited activities within the organisation, including:

  • Overseeing the delivery of Irish Sailing–approved training and coaching.

  • Ensuring compliance with the Irish Sailing Recognition Requirements and associated policies.

  • Managing the issue of certificates on behalf of Irish Sailing.

The Centre Principal also acts as the primary point of contact between the organisation and Irish Sailing.
They may nominate and inform Irish Sailing of additional team members who assume specific administrative or operational responsibilities.
