Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School and West Pier Sailing Club will host a 24-hour Sailathon later this month in support of the RNLI. The event will run from 4pm on Friday 29 May until 4pm on Saturday 30 May at the INSS clubhouse on Dún Laoghaire’s West Pier.
Qualified instructors, safety crews and support teams will oversee the event throughout the 24 hours, demonstrating the strong volunteer spirit and community engagement that continues to underpin Irish sailing clubs and training centres nationwide.
Saturday’s programme will include on-water activities involving the INSS Junior Club, alongside informal racing and sailing sessions building toward a mini regatta finale with West Pier Sailing Club members later in the afternoon.
The RNLI will also attend the event on Saturday, providing water safety information and public engagement activities highlighting the charity’s lifesaving work around the Irish coast.
The Sailathon aims to combine fundraising, participation and community involvement, while also recognising the important role the RNLI plays in supporting safe enjoyment of the water for sailors, powerboaters and watersports participants across Ireland.
The event will conclude at 4pm on Saturday following the completion of the challenge, with a final race and prize-giving ceremony scheduled afterwards.
