IRISH SAILING YOUTH NATIONALS - ILCA 4

Despite not taking to the water at the Irish Sailing Youth Nationals earlier this month when hosted by the Royal Cork Yacht Club, the ILCA 4 sailors showed their resilience and commitment by competing in Lough Ree Yacht Club over the weekend.

The ILCA Connacht regional event, with the kind permission and support of both ILCA Ireland and Lough Ree Yacht Club, acted as an alternative event  in which to award the 2024 Youth National medals to the U17 ILCA 4 sailors placed 1st , 2nd and 3rd overall.

Irish Sailing racing manager Stephen O’Shaughnessy commented, ‘Irish Sailing is delighted that an alternative solution could be found after the disappointment for the ILCA 4 sailors who worked so hard over the winter months in preparation for the annual Youth Nationals event in early April. Congratulations to the winners and to the wider fleet who took part and contributed to some very competitive racing over the two days’.

The final results saw Andrew O Neill (RCYC) take the bronze medal, Caoilinn McDonnell (RstGYC) took home silver, while Conor Cronin ( RstGYC /MSC) took gold.
