Monday Update from the Irish Sailing Team

A Monday morning update from the Irish Sailing Team

The full Irish Sailing Laser Team have just completed a domestic training clinic in Dublin Bay. Annalise Murphy, Aoife Hopkins, Eve McMahon in the Radials have been training alongside the Men’s Laser Standards, Finn Lynch, Liam Glynn and Ewan McMahon and coaches Rory Fitzpatrick and Vasilij Zbogar. Sailing out of the Irish Sailing Performance HQ in Dun Laoghaire, the team have had a week of intensive start training to help sharpen skills for Tokyo.

The Laser Radials then fly out today to the Allianz Regatta in the Netherlands. This is a brand new event organised by the Dutch Sailing Federation and takes place in Medemblik. Racing starts on 2 June, and nearly 300 competitors from 47 countries are expected, although no spectators allowed. This is a practice regatta for the Irish Team as part of the build up to the Tokyo Games. https://allianzregatta.org/

Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove in the 49er Team are still at home training this week.

For the eagle-eyed, you will have noticed that one of the containers is back on site at the Performance HQ. This is one of the empty shipping containers we have which is moved from the ferry terminal. We’re currently using it for storage.

With the countdown to Tokyo well on its way, we’ll keep you updated on our channels.
