IRISH SAILING EGM / AGM

Attn Irish Sailing Members,

An Irish Sailing EGM and AGM will take place in Lough Ree Yacht Club on Wednesday 25th March 2026 at 1900hrs and MS Teams.

EGM
The constitution was planned to be amended at EGM in 2025, and the postponement of this change was agreed by members at that meeting, to take place at an EGM on a future date. The proposed changes and additional changes to the constitution arising from that meeting are back before the members at an EGM, which will be held prior to the AGM.

The aims of the constitutional changes are set out in the formal notice and are required to commence the Member Management System project passed by members at EGM in 2025 with a 99% majority.

AGM
The AGM serves as the annual members meeting to run through a standard order of business and any ordinary resolutions, in this case a small amendment to member pricing arising from members wishes expressed at the recent EGM.

Previous Minutes
Both the minutes of the AGM in March 2025 and the Minutes of the EGM in October 2025 will be put to the members for approval.

Presidents Report & Annual Accounts
The President will give her report for 2025, and the audited annual accounts will be reviewed and considered for member approval.

Appointment of President
Irish Sailing President Sue Concannon (Killaloe Sailing Club) is standing down as President. Sue has served five years on the Board and one year as President.  As a result, the Board now wishes to nominate David Cullen (Howth Yacht Club) for President. David has served 4 years on the Board and is the Secretary of Irish Sailing.

Appointment of Directors
The Board nominates Andrew Algeo (Baltimore SC, RIYC, RstGYC, CAI) for re-election to the Board as Director, having appointed him to the Board in December 2025.

Due to the required retirement by rotation of Directors, Bill O’Hara retires from the Board and is proposed by the Board for re-election, to serve out the final year of the five-year term.

The Board extends its thanks, on behalf of the membership, to outgoing President Sue Concannon and Board member Niall O’Neill (Baltimore SC) for their valued contributions and wish them well in their future endeavours, both in life and sailing.

Change of Members Subscription Rate
This subscription rate, at the request of members at the 2025 EGM, is to be put to members to allow for no subscription charge for Ceremonial and Non-Active Honorary Affiliate Personal Members, so that Clubs are free to invite such members to their clubs, for strategic advantage, at no additional expense.

Notice of attendance
Please be aware that those, other than the secretary, intending to vote on behalf of their clubs, will need to be nominated by their clubs to attend and vote more than 48 hours prior to the members meeting.  Please send nominations to info@sailing.ie.

Please note that Irish Sailing intends to regularise this challenging constitutional requirement, in the hope that leaders of our Affiliate Clubs may more easily and readily attend and vote at future members meetings.  We assume that such changes proposed to the constitution will be welcomed by members.
