RACING RULES AND PROTEST COMMITTEE COURSE

Irish Sailing will host a Racing Rules & Protest Committee Course on Saturday 21 March 2026 at Royal Cork Yacht Club, offering sailors and volunteers an opportunity to refresh their knowledge ahead of the 2026 summer sailing season.

With the season fast approaching, the course will focus on the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing 2025–2028, which underpin all competitive sailing activity. The session is designed to help participants better understand how the rules are applied on the water and how protest committees operate to ensure fair and consistent decision-making.

Open to members of all clubs, the course will be informative, interactive and accessible, making it suitable for sailors of all levels and ages. It is particularly beneficial for those involved in racing, race management or protest hearings, as well as anyone looking to build confidence in interpreting the rules before the busy summer calendar begins.

The course will run from 10.30am to 4.30pm, with a registration fee of €10. The minimum age for attendance is 16 years. Participants are advised to bring note-taking materials and a phone or laptop to complete an online knowledge quiz as part of the training.

This course forms part of Irish Sailing’s ongoing commitment to education and training, supporting clubs and volunteers in delivering fair, safe and well-managed racing nationwide.

Registration is available in Irish Sailing > Shop.
